1 CHANGE THE WAY YOU WALK INTO A ROOM
Walking is walking right? No, it certainly IS NOT! Longer strides, better posture and a subtle shake in your hips is going to make the world of difference to your self esteem. It helps to practice in front of the mirror. I know what you are thinking… ‘ oh there is no ways that’s too embarassing!’. Well just so you know.. every single fitness model practices walking and posing. So why shouldn’t you??? First impressions are everything. People will admire you and want what you have. Walking seems simple because its something you have been doing all of your life. Walking with a confident attitude is a skill very few people acquire. So hold your head up high and don’t be scared to look people straight in the eye. Everyone is going to stop and stare. Just like they do in the slow motion scenes in the chick flicks.
2. ONLY VALUE THE OPINIONS OF THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE AND TRUST
Confident people do not try to please everyone. STOP CARING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK. The thing is, life is far too short to have fake friends. Surround yourself with genuine and positive people. Say goodbye to any negativity. Find friends who are good listeners. Cherish those in your life who can give you honest opinions and support. These are the people you can confide in. Above all practice what you preach. A million fake relationships are worthless. A strong relationship is priceless.
3. SET GOALS WITH TIME FRAMES
Having a dream is one thing, executing it is another. You are never going to get something you really want by saying ‘I WILL DO IT ONE DAY’. It is a known fact that confident people are goal getters. Write down your dreams and set starting date. Writing your goals down puts things into perspective. When the time frame is realistic, there is nothing stopping you.
4. MAKE AN EFFORT WITH YOUR APPEARANCE.
You are certainly not going to leave the house without brushing your teeth. Why not take just a few more minutes to do your hair and add a little mascara? It surprisingly doesn’t take a great deal of money or time just to add a few finishing touches (remember this is coming from a mom of two). You will leave the house feeling like a super model even though you didn’t sleep the night before. If you look your best then you are ready to give your best.
5. BE MORE ASSERTIVE
This does not happen over night. You need to become more aware of your interactions with other people and start analyzing where you could contribute more to conversations. The importance is to observe before confidently acting. Start with friends and family before trying out other interactions such as the workplace. We are working towards taking that dream job position and that sexy person you haven’t had the guts to ask out.
6. WEAR THE HEELS
My mother is one of the most confident women I know. There has always been a strong connection with the heels she wears and her self esteem. It’s not only the stereotype that comes with sophistication and elegance. Infact I think it may have something to do with the fact that you can hear her confidence coming before she makes that striking entrance. Those of you that know me know that I live in sneakers. Truth be told those can still make you feel girly and sexy.. however just those few cms in my feet make me feel extra fearless. If you are not a heel lady, start small! Make sure any pair you buy are comfotable, so you make the effort to wear them.
7. TRY AND GROW AS A PERSON.
Every day is a new opportunity to work on your weaknesses. Never stop learning. Work on a healthy body and a healthy mind. Make time for ME TIME! This doesn’t have to be a getaway or a yoga class, it can be as simple as writing down personal things that affect your emotions or the things you want to achieve in life. Drop the high expectations of yourself and focus in the daily progressions. This is vital for your self esteem. Make yesterday meaningful so that it’s not just an ordinary day.
Being confident has nothing to do with the things you dislike about your body. If you feel glamorous on the inside its going to make you feel glamorous on the outside. It actually works both ways. So take care of your emotional side as well as your physical side to achieve positivity and confidence. FOCUS ON YOUR BEST ATTRIBUTES. CARE LESS ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK. CARE MORE ABOUT THE THINGS THAT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY.
